Instituto Juruá starts an alliance with Ecotok charcoal for life

In November 2019, Instituto Juruá and Ecotok formalized a partnership to support biodiversity conservation and local development along the Juruá River. Through this initiative, Ecotok will contribute part of its profits to the maintenance of our arapaima conservation activities.

Ecotok is a sustainable charcoal made from coconut shell. It is a product with high conservation value since its production does not involve timber extraction.

“The alliance with Ecotok is an important strategy to support our activities along the Juruá River. This partnership will also help us to disseminate the optimistic history of arapaima management to an international audience” says João Campos-Silva, director of Instituto Juruá.
