Between March 23 and 27, 2026, Instituto Juruá held its Planning Week at Xare Site, a space managed by the Indigenous Missionary Council (Cimi), located along the road connecting Manaus to the municipality of Presidente Figueiredo. The meeting brought together teams working in Manaus and Carauari for a strategic moment of institutional alignment, priority-setting and strengthening joint actions for the year ahead.
Throughout the week, the main activities of the Institute’s core programs were discussed and planned, including the Education & Capacity Building Program, the Protected Areas Program and the Research & Innovation Program, as well as the Communication initiatives. The agenda also included discussions on cross-cutting themes essential to the organization’s operations, such as fundraising, strengthening the Instituto Juruá Store, improving internal organizational processes, and defining monitoring and evaluation indicators.
The director of Instituto Juruá, João Campos-Silva, highlighted the importance of the meeting as a space for collective dialogue and for consolidating the institution’s strategic vision. “Planning Week is a fundamental moment for aligning our actions with the challenges of the territory and with the needs of the communities we work alongside. It is also an opportunity to integrate teams, exchange experiences, and strengthen our commitment to solutions based on Amazonian sociobiodiversity,” he stated.

The coordinator of the Carauari office, Almira Silva, emphasized the value of the meeting for strengthening collaboration among teams from different territories. “Being together in person makes a huge difference. We are able to deepen discussions, share lessons learned from fieldwork, and build more integrated paths for our actions in Carauari and in other areas where we operate,” she highlighted.
On Wednesday (March 25), the program included an integration and recreational activity, featuring visits to Maroaga Cave and Mutum Waterfall, two important natural attractions in the Presidente Figueiredo region. The moment provided an opportunity for informal exchange among participants and reinforced the team spirit that is central to the Institute’s collaborative work.
